Studies have shown that the moderate but regular consumption of wine can be completely
health-promoting and can prevent illness. Women should not drink more than 0.2 litres a day, and men
should restrict themselves to 0.3 litres a day, on average. Moderate drinkers, for example, have
lower cholesterol levels, run less risk of thrombosis and embolism and have a much lower risk of
heart attacks than those who abstain.

that wines kill cholera bacteria and can combat typhoid.
